Arlington, Texas

Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) is the fourth largest metro area in the US and the largest in Texas.  About a quarter of all Texans live here. DFW airport is the third busiest airport in the world, with convenient national and international connections. Dallas typically tops lists of the fastest growing cities in the US and Texas itself lists of business friendly states.

The DFW area is home to over 10,000 corporate headquarters making DFW the largest corporate headquarter concentration in the US. Fortune 500 companies based here include Exxon, AT&T, AMR (American Airlines), Kimberley-Clark, J.C. Penney, Texas Instruments and Southwest Airlines.

Thursby’s headquarters is in Arlington, a suburb of DFW, 30 minutes south of DFW airport and across from Arlington Municipal Airport (GKY). Arlington is home to the University of Texas at Arlington, the third largest campus in the University of Texas system, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Six Flags over Texas theme park.

Arlington and surrounding areas boast many public parks, lakes and marinas, as well as some of the best dining, spas, golfing, sports, shopping, theater, arts and cultural attractions in the US.

DFW contains the largest information technology industry in the state (often referred to as Silicon Prairie), owing to the large number of corporate IT projects and the presence of numerous electronics, aviation, defense, computing and telco firms including Bell Helicopters, Raytheon, Lockheed, Siemens, HP-EDS and Dell-Perot.  North Texas  has a similar history to Northern California, one of commercial and defense innovation from the transistor, to generations of ground breaking aircraft and space vehicles, to modern concepts of IT data center management.

The warm climate, affordable housing, short commutes, growing economy, low unemployment with continued hiring throughout recession, lack of state corporate and personal income taxes, strong university system and local schools from Montessori Kindergarten to International Baccalaureate attract many individual and corporate transplants from high cost areas such as California, Virginia and Washington State.
