Thursby launches ADmitMac ® PKI v4, the fourth generation of its two-factor security software for enterprise Mac integration

ARLINGTON, Texas, April 11, 2012 – Thursby Software Systems, Inc., launches ADmitMac ®PKI v4, the fourth generation of its two-factor security software for enterprise Macs, supporting OS X Lion.

ADmitMac PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) v4 allows Macs to be securely managed and Integrated in Government and corporate environments where Common Access Card (CAC), Personal Identity Verification (PIV) or similar corporate smart cards are used to secure direct network access to Microsoft Windows-centric infrastructure.   Upgrades to v4 are available for free to all customers under a current support contract.  ADmitMac PKI v3.1 continues to be the recommended solution for Snow Leopard and Leopard.

As of the first quarter of 2012, industry analysts noted that shipments of Macs and iPads exceeded for the first time those of legacy Windows vendors such as HP and Dell meaning that enterprise Apple integration, management and security are increasingly issues for IT executives.  The use of two-factor security software such as ADmitMac PKI is mandated for the US Government in Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and one third of large corporations worldwide use similar smart cards to secure access to their own networks.

Enterprise-oriented ADmitMac PKI differs from Thursby’s consumer-oriented PKard ® for Mac software (web and email security only) in offering full network logon and integration with Single Sign-On (SSO), Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Microsoft Group Policy (GPO), Mac Work Group Manager (WgM) and network resources under Microsoft DFS and Microsoft SMB/CIFS.    As an end-to-end enterprise solution designed to cover hundreds to thousands of Macs, it also includes deployment tools and does not require lock-in to any proprietary new server-based software, making Mac rollouts simple, secure and cost effective.

Thursby delivered its first Mac smart card integration over six years ago, since then covering thousands of enterprise Macs and a wide variety of smart cards, extending its offerings to iPads, iPhones and iPod touches last year, with solutions for both enterprise users and more unusually end-users, the so-called Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) group who have adopted Apple products more quickly than many central IT departments.
