"Safari web content quit unexpectedly"

Postby michaelwolfe » Wed Mar 25, 2015 4:38 pm

We have had a few customers report that they are able to log into their webmail, but after a minute or so they get the error "Safari web content quit unexpectedly". What we have been able to determine is that this happens only Yosemite with Safari 8 and is caused by a calendar notification.

The easiest solution that we have to get around this problem is to use Google Chrome. If you wish to continue to use Safari then I suggest that you change OWA to load in the Lite Version.

To load OWA in the lite version:

- Log into your webmail
- Click Options
- Click General
- Check the box for "Use the blind and low vision experience"
- Log out and close the browser

I suggest that you perform this on a computer that doesn't experience this issue, but you may be able to load Options in Safari before it the notifications prompt.

This has been submitted to Apple under Bug # 20535106

After some additional testing we found that the latest version of Safari, v8.0.5, no longer experiences this issue. Please update your Mac to the latest updates if you are experiencing a Safari crash.
