New Card Problems - RESOLVED

Post by jbuck387 » Mon Jul 06, 2015 8:14 pm

I recently got a new CAC card and am unable to connect to any CAC enabled site, previously I was. I have tried following instructions from Military CAC to uninstall all software, delete cache using the PKard Utility, and reinstall and reruning PKard Assistant. All with no success on any CAC site using any browser. When attempting to access a CAC site it does not even ask which certificate or for my CAC password. Thank you for your help.

The CAC card does show up in keychain

Below is my system config:

iMac Mid-2010
OS: OSX 10.10.4
CAC Reader: SCR331 running 5.25
CAC Card Type: Oberthur ID One 128 v5.5 Dual
Software: PKard v 1.6.2

jbuck387,

First, please see this post regarding getting a new card:

Then see this post about identity preferences:

Using the utility and following those steps should get you working again.

Jim,

I have followed the steps above with no success. Keychain shows to CAC card, but after following those steps when I attempt to go to any CAC site, I am not even asked which certificate, it does straight to "Safari can't open to the page "https://www.bol.navy/mil/DefaultPub.aspx?Cookies=yes" because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."

I receive that same error on all CAC sites. When I reboot in Windows Bootcamp, it works no problem. Prior to getting the new card this morning Mac side worked as it should have.

Joe,

Do you have any anti-virus software on your Mac? Some anti-virus or security products have a "web shield" that prevents the browser from being able to access the Keychain. If you do, please try either disabling the web shield part of the product, or disabling the software entirely, then try accessing MOL again.

If you are not getting prompted to choose a cert or to enter your PIN, something is preventing the Keychain from being accessed. You may want to call in to our Support Department at 1-817-478-5070 and see if one of our team can help get things working for you.

Perfect!

Yes I run Avast, and once I turned off Avast web security it appears to have fixed the problem! Thanks again for all of your help!
