Dave10 install trashed user password

Post by STC » Mon Aug 27, 2012 7:32 pm

I installed Dave 10 (upgrading from v9). At the end of the installation, my user password was requested so that the installer could make adjustments to the Dave panels in system preferences. It declared my password to be incorrect. I am certain that I had the correct password and I made numerous attempts. Eventually, I cancelled this latter part of the installation. Even though I'd cancelled, Dave seemed to have been updated and operates fine.

But …

My system password had been changed!! I lost access to my Mac until I booted into Open Firmware -> install DVD -> reset password.

A very scary defect in the installer.

STC,

I apologize for any inconvenience and concern. We have had a few customers report this, and we are actively investigating to determine what caused the password issue. We will update this topic as more information becomes available.

Michael,

I apologize that this thread was not updated.

That issue was resolved rather quickly, and should not be a problem with the current version of DAVE, available here:

DAVE v10 Download

Please let me know if you are still experiencing that type of problem.
