Read/write Speeds

Post by robs » Thu Jan 24, 2013 8:32 pm

Hi

I have a Mac OS X Lion Mac Pro acting as and SMB server. On the Mac Pro server I have a custom SMB application. I can connect without Dave using OSX's 'Connect to server' function. I get approx 50MB/s read and 50MB/s write. I loaded Dave to get better performance with our video editing server and generally it does that. The SMB drives load instantly, however the read/write speeds are 75MB/s read and 22MB/s write.

I was hoping I read speeds were higher than my write as the its more critical for video editing.

Thanks in advance for any help.

robs,

DAVE supports connection to Microsoft Windows networking, and will only support Mac-to-Mac SMB connection if DAVE is installed on both Macs. Due to the significant differences in protocol, we cannot support connection to Apple's built-in Windows Sharing, Mac Samba implementations, or any other SMB server on OS X.
