Upgrade ADmitMac v7 to v8

Postby Dalaimoc » Fri Nov 22, 2013 5:14 am

Hi,
How do I upgrade my Mac from v7 to v8. Is there a
upgrade document or instructions to upgrade from v7 to v8?
Can I simply install the v8 over the v7 installation or have I uninstall first the v7?
What about my data on my user account?

Thanks, Dalaimoc

Dalaimoc,

If you have a current Support & Upgrade Agreement (SUA), you should have already received an email with your upgrade information. If you did not have an SUA, we will be contacting you soon with your upgrade options.

If you have a working installation of ADmitMac v7, you can simply install v8 over your current installation while logged in as a local admin. This will update the software to the latest version but keep all of your settings intact.

If you have any questions, please contact our Support Specialists at support@thursby.com.

Jim,
Yes, I have a current SUA. I received a email with a little information like the new serial and the download link. But there are no upgrade informations in the mail or in the downloaded files that I found.

But your short explanation about the upgrade is good enough for me. ;) Thank you.

And BTW... I have contacted your Support. But no answer so far... ;)

The upgrade from v7 to v8 and from OS X 10.8 to OS X 10.9 worked, but I had a litte bit of pain.
Everything worked fine, but I got an error dialog saying "There was a problem connecting to the server, URLs with the type smb: are not supported"
I found the resolution here in the forum but in a very very indirect way. After a lot google... :

But I didn't had a bad file. I simply installed the ADmitMac v8 a second time after all the updating and then it is working.

I only lost a few hours of time and a lot of nerves. ;) But now it is working and I am satisfied. 8-)
