Mount Mavericks share on Windows PC - Open quicktime file

Postby kev » Fri Jul 11, 2014 5:28 am

Hi, We have Dave 11 installed on OSX MAvericks with a local drive shared via Dave. This is then mounted on a Windows PC where I can browse the files and directories. But if i try to open a Quicktime file in Quicktime player I get "Error - 2000: a necessary data reference could not be resolved", but i know the file to be good and opens eslswehere, I just get this error on the Dave 11 share. Any ideas why I would be getting this please?

Cheers.

kev,

The "Error -2000" is one that has plagued Windows users for years, even when DAVE isn't in use. Various suggestions include making sure there are no special characters in the file name, making sure the extension matches the encoding, and copying the file to the Windows machine before trying to open it.

Unfortunately, since the error is a QuickTime error, this isn't something we will be able to address.

I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Hi, OK, this gets weird!
I am on a Windows 7 PC with an OSX Mavericks shared drive mounted on this PC. I am able to browse files, folders, etc. lets say there is a file called filename.txt within a folder. If I rename filename.txt to 22.txt and hit enter it changes the name to 222.txt, if I hit refresh, it changes it to 22.txt, if I try to open the file it says I can't find file 222.txt.
This is not just my setup, we can re-create this on other sets, using a different mac and different PC. The common thing is Dave 11, whats gone wrong with Dave?
It seems to add odd characters!
We are on OSX 10.9.4 with Dave 11.
What is going on?
