custom flags/settings and usb reader approval screen

Post by kyle_ken » Fri Feb 13, 2015 8:10 pm

Is there a list or a way, that we could customize pkard browser similar to Google chrome? (i.e. request desktop version of site always, stop displaying pkard has found X certs, etc..)

Next question, is there a way to permanently accept the USB CAC reader on android? (hate that extra step of approving the reader every time i connect it to the phone)

kyle_ken,

I apologize for the delay in responding. To directly answer all three questions at once: No.

In detail:

The first two options hadn't been suggested to us yet. I will get those added as feature requests, and as Engineering Department resources become available, they will be considered for development. I don't want to give any kind of ETA at this time, but we will look at these for a future update.

Regarding the card reader dialog, though, we have been looking into this and communicating with Android developers on this for a while. Currently, there is some quirk in how Android handles USB connections that prevents that option from being saved. As I understand it, this will and Android issue to resolve, but we are continuing to look at things from our end to see if there's anything we can do. I definitely understand your frustration with that dialog, as I run into it several times a day, too.

I hope this information helps.

I was wondering about that (in regards to the USB host check box).

The only two things I could think of were:
-Register an intent-filter on your accessory and let the system ask for permission when the device is attached
-Call the service IUsbManager interface and ServiceManager class are employed. These are both hidden too, so you can't use them directly. But what you can do is to create their stubs with exactly the same names and in corresponding namespaces (packages). Only problem with this one is that it turns the app into a system app.

Thanks for the reply!
