Access Policy Evaluation is already in progress for your current session

Post by hfeigel » Fri Jun 29, 2018 4:29 pm

I recently purchased the full version of the software after successfully using the trail version several months ago. Since then I've been unable to access Navy OWA. After I click through the warning screen I am presented with "Access Policy Evaluation is already in progress for your current session" and offered a link to create new session which just loops me back to the warning screen. At no point am I asked for my pin.

I am able to access other CAC enabled sites. Please advise.

NMCI has recently made changes to Navy OWA servers. These changes have caused connection problems with R2S and Sub Rosa. Attempting to access Navy OWA using our Android products results in the error you mentioned. My first recommendation is to contact the NMCI Help Desk to make sure they are aware of the problem:

Web: https://infosec.navy.mil/PKI (CAC required)
Phone: 866-843-6624
Email: servicedesk_usmc@nmci.mil

I am going to reach out to you from our support tracking system so that we can track this to completion.

To anyone who reads this and has a similar problem, please email our support team (support@thursby.com) so that we will have your information and we can update you with changes.

Has there been any progress on this issue? I'm not at all happy that my $80 software purchase has so far been useless.

hfeigel,

This is an issue with the Navy email servers and is affecting all NMCI users, including those using Windows computers. As a workaround, you may have a better chance of getting into your email by disabling our Enhanced OWA Client within Sub Rosa Pro's Settings. With this disabled, you will not be able to send signed and encrypted email, nor will you be able to view encrypted email. You email is also presented in the web view as opposed to our email client. Once we have learned that the Navy has resolved the issue, we will update this forum post.

I tried loading the OWA site on Chrome on my phone and was prompted to select a certificate (which I can't do on Chrome). Using Sub Rosa I'm never given the option. Disabling the enhanced client has no effect.

Are you certain it's a problem with OWA and not Sub Rosa?

hfeigel,

Sub Rosa is designed to automatically choose the Email Signing certificate on your CAC for you, which is why you may only see a PIN prompt. We have also confirmed that this problem is affecting browsers on Windows computers; we have tested our own Navy contractor CAC's and it took around 15 minutes of refreshing and trying different browsers before we were able to get into the East server. Other Navy users are having similar issues connecting on their own government computers as well.

Because this affects all R2S users, NMCI is actively working with Navy Reserve Forces Command to get this resolved.

For now, make sure that you are using Sub Rosa or Sub Rosa Pro v4.0.4. Email access will likely work outside of normal working hours when the servers are less busy.
