CAC card not recognized
Re: CAC card not recognized
Kayla,
We should really be dealing with this through our support email ( support@thursby.com ) or telephone ( 817-478-5070 ).
I'd like to know what type of card reader you're using. Make and Model can be found on the reader. To find the Firmware version, choose Apple Menu > About This Mac > More Info, then click USB, and then click the Smart Card Reader, and the firmware will be listed in the bottom of that screen. It should look like this:
Also, I want to make sure that PKard is starting. Did you do step 3? Did PKard stay running?
You can either post replies here or email our support department.
Carl

Re: CAC card not recognized
I bought the inogear GSR202 model yesterday hoping to use it. My mac running os x lion 10.7.1 after installing pkard my mac recognizes the card reader but the reader will not read my car card any ideas? or should i just return this model and buy another?
Re: CAC card not recognized
We do not yet have information that this reader is not working. Please contact our Support Department ( support@thursby.com ) and we can help make this determination. You could also contact IOGEAR for troubleshooting help.

Re: CAC card not recognized
I too have a IOGEAR card reader sold at the PX recognized by PKard but will not recognize the card when inserted. I have the most up to date firmware. Model GSR202 Obviously PKard doesn't support this reader
Re: CAC card not recognized
We've had several customers report that the IOGEAR reader does not work properly with Mac OS X, and we've had other customers say it works fine. Here is how you can tell if your reader will work ( with Mac OS X ):
- If your card is in the reader, remove it.
- Reboot your computer.
- Open Terminal and enter the following command ( followed by return or enter ):
pcsctest
You should receive output similar to the following:
If you do not get the output above, your Mac is not recognizing the reader. This is not a feature of PKard -- this is the Mac ( using the pcscd daemon ).
If you get this output, enter the reader number ( it's likely '01' ), and then insert your card. The output should continue with text similar to the following:
If you get this far, everything should be working fine. If you do not, copy the text from Terminal and email it to support@thursby.com along with a description of the problem you're having and we'll try to find a solution.

Re: CAC card not recognized
When I go to terminal PKard pops up but then it changes to PKCS11. I type the codes into terminal and it asks for a password.
Re: CAC card not recognized
Each time you use 'sudo' you'll be asked for your account password ( this is what you use to log in to the Mac ). This password will not be displayed when you type it in Terminal.
If you're using your CAC/PIV and you're prompted for your password, you should enter your CAC/PIV PIN.
If you're having troubles, do step for in the post above, and email (1) the com.thursby.pki file, (2) a description of what's happening, and (3) the make and model of your reader to support@thursby.com.
